Thunderbirds and House of Fury

Went to the movies to watch “House of Fury” a Hong Kong movie. A sort of secret agents past catches up with him and his family. The martial arts action is good and obviously fantastical with some speeded up action. Watch out for the little kid called nelson! It has a few laughs and is worth watching. We watched it at the summit cinema in an area where generally there are no matsallehs, so people tend to stare a bit either thinking I’m a lost tourist or maybe it’s the halo above my head? There were no lovely Chinese ladies to vie for my attention like at “Seoul Raiders” but I guess when Mrs Klite goes into Pitbull/Rottewiler mode people tend to place great value on their extremities.

Best part:
Elle the daughters (Natalie) best friend playing femme fatale to an almost innocent speechless brother Nicky by offering him a French kiss and changing her mind at the last moment because his time is up!

Before we went into the movie we got some Chinese food – I had something called Kon Nam Mee. It came with a few slices of a jellied egg considered a delicacy and an acquired taste. I know it makes Mrs. Klite feel sick so I could at last have revenge for the durian she inflicts on me. For the uninitiated, the egg is treated in such a way (perhaps someone could comment on the process?) that the egg yolk turns black and has a dry texture like that of a hard boiled egg. The egg white however is a different matter and one which I suspect is what’s makes people feel sick since it turns in a sort of dark translucent jelly with little taste. I just popped one in expecting some foul taste, but it was palatable but with very little taste, but it does remind me of the consistency of the jelly you find in tinned cat food- not that I have tried it. I think I have an idea of what goes through a cats mind when it looks at this stuff and its one where they stare at you in disgust and then later vomit on your nice new shoes for insulting their gourmet taste.

Watched thunderbirds on DVD Saturday night and I kind of wished I hadn’t. Now I know why it went to DVD so quickly. It spoilt my childhood memory of the puppet series which looking back today was sometimes so bad that its good, and the modern version could be described as wooden as the original. Odd that the world of the Tracey family looks futuristic but old London of 2065 has not updated except for a monorail along the Thames. Can you tell that they put much effort into it? Even the efforts of Ben Kinglesy could not save this movie. It has that awful boy band blue contributing something they call music. I think Bill Nighy character got it right in “love actually” when he referred to blue as a bunch of W.. ell you work it out. Oh well chalk this one to experience I think. I watched it with subtitles, which were not well done but did provide the funniest moment referring to lady Penople as lady banana cave and she certainly was!
